I woke up this morning thinking about how selfish people, young and old, have become. As I sat on the side of my bed, and thought more, the words “In the last days, men will become lovers of themselves were included in my .” I went to my bible and found the passage in 2 Timothy.
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, – 2 Timothy 3:1-4
In the past month or so, I have witnessed blatant disregard for people’s feelings and well-being. I have seen people so in love with themselves that the only thing that matters is what they want and their willingness to hurt whoever they think gets in their way.
I have seen people’s greed for money to cloud their judgment enough to where they will break the law, lie, scheme and cheat just for a few dollars. I’ve seen people do something in the community and take to social media and brag about what they’ve done to receive approval from man.
I have seen teenagers be so ungrateful and walk away from homes that provided safety, comfort and more than their basic needs because they wanted to be adults and no longer wanted to obey their parents’ or guardian’s rules.
I have seen people intentionally lie on and slander others just to make themselves look good or cover up their faults. I’ve seen people despise others just because they want to live righteous lives and do what is right in the sight of God.
Yes, we are witnesses to the events of the last days. But there is no reason to fear or be dismayed because God is with the ones who remain humble and depend on Him and His word to make it through a world we aren’t even a part of. God has promised us a place in heaven if we keep faith in those promises and live holy and separated lifestyles.
