Most of us spend a lot of time “chasing that dollar”, “getting to the grind”, and “making that cheese” so we can have some creature comforts. It’s written in Proverbs 27:20b that our eyes are never satisfied. So we keep going after more comforts. The more we get, the more we want. Not only does this cause us to miss more important things like family time, or allowing our bodies to rest, it also robs us of valuable time with the Lord.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? – Mark 8:36
We’ve been taught to work hard and have all we can afford, many times we go in debt. But what about forsaking some of the things that we really don’t need anyway and go after something that moth, worm, rust or thief can’t take away?
I urge you to spend time studying God’s word and applying it to your life. I guarantee you we will find greater wealth and an assurance that we will experience the richness of an eternal life.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. – Matthew 6:19-20
