I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. – Psalm 37:25
I’ve been on this earth for a little over 62 years and I’ve seen people who have the blessings of the Lord in their life, and their family’s life. I especially reflect on those who I know were true worshippers of God. Not only did I see the material blessings upon the people who lived righteously, I also saw the spiritual blessings as well.
We seek God for the things we need and the things we want and desire. God has allowed the statement to be written in Philippians 4:19 that He will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory. Psalm 37:4 lets us know that if we delight ourselves in the Lord that He will give us the desires of our heart. David declares that God won’t hold back anything that’s good for us if we walk upright (walk in righteousness).
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. – Psalm 84:11
The key to these kinds of blessings is righteousness and delighting ourselves in the Lord. When we delight ourselves in the Lord we are happy and overjoyed about being subject to His words and commandments, and this puts us in a state of righteousness because obeying God causes us to take on the characteristics of a righteous God.
God’s word will never return to Him void. It will do what it was sent by Him to do. We should pray and ask the Lord to help us live righteously and walk upright before Him so we will be thoroughly furnished with our needs and some of our desires.
