Most people have something God can use to further His Kingdom. It’s up to us whether we want to be used to glorify God, or not. For those who have decided to side with the Lord in the building of His kingdom, we fall or have fallen short in the category of love.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
I’ve met people who had melodic voices, but their display of love toward others needed some tuning. I’ve seen people who were great administrators, but their people skills lacked compassion. I’ve seen people who were more loving on their jobs and in the marketplace than they are in a worship setting.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is more precious than jewels. The Gospel is worth more than money. If we present it to people without a display of love for them, they will reject it like a 14-carat gold and diamond ring will be thrown away if we put it in an ugly giftbox.
Let us remember that lovingkindness is what drew us to Jesus. His many mercies and awesome grace pulled us into His loving arms of safety. We must do the same thing as we interract with people in and out of the walls of the church.
Lord I pray we will grasp the concept of love, unconditional love, the way you love us. Erase anger and past hurt we may have that will reflect unfavorably on the building of your Kingdom. In Jesus’ Holy name. – Amen
