This is a world that gives a sense of entitlement. There are so many people who think they’re entitled to whatever they deem necessary to make their lives comfortable. You might hear; “I went to college so I deserve a better paying job.” Or; “I’m better than this race of people, or that race of people, so I deserve more,” blah, blah, blah.
I might feel as though I deserve certain things or creature comforts, but I know one thing I don’t deserve. There’s nothing I could’ve done so right or so perfect to receive the gift God gave all of us.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
What a gift to receive from God who loves us enough to sacrifice His only Son! This is a gift I’m not entitled to receive. This is a gift I don’t deserve because of my past retched and sinful life.
When I wasn’t even thinking of God, He loved me. While I rebelled against His Holy Will for my life, He loved me. Even when I questioned His existence and His word, He loved me.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. – Romans 5:7-9
Oh how undeserving I am. Oh how thankful I am Christ died for me to save me from the wrath that awaits the unrepentive.
Lord I’m thankful for the gift you gave me of which I really don’t deserve. Thank you for loving me as much as you do. – Amen
