Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. – Psalm 19:14
I wonder how many words we say in a day. We probably would be amazed at how many thoughts run through our mind. And to think all of what we say and think originates in the heart. Taking this into consideration, we ought to ponder what’s in our heart and examine everything we say and do before we say and do it.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” – Matthew 12:35-37
God takes into account everything we say and we will be judged for it. Our actions will either cause our name to be in the Lamb Book of Life, or it will cause us to be erased from its pages (Revelation 21). It would be good practice to ask ourselves; “Will God accept what I’m about to do?” or “Is what I’m about to do or say going to glorify Jesus, or help someone get through the day?” If the answer is no, let it go!
