The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. – Proverbs 18:10
I live in the Central Georgia area. We were expecting harsh weather associated with Hurrican Irma. By the time she made it to us she was a fierce tropical storm. I stood outside of my house and watched the trees swaying in a wind that was relentless for nearly six hours.
First I said a prayer remembering the people in Florida, Texas and the Carribean Islands who Harvey and Irma changed their way of living for a long time. Then I prayed that God would protect the people in Georgia, Macon and my little piece of the land He blessed my wife and me with.
When I woke up this morning, we still didn’t have electricity and the debris in our yard was very visible. But it still wasn’t the devastation other people experienced elsewhere. While I was typing this post I thought of us being able to run to the Lord, our strong tower of defense to be safe.
When we live God’s will, through faith we are justified and are righteous. Then through prayer, we can run to the Lord in trying times such as what we’ve seen in the past two weeks and we are safe through the one who loves us so much. The Lord. Our Strong Tower.
Dear God. I pray for everyone who is affected by the recent hurricanes. Thank you for reminding me that you haven’t lost control. Thank you for protecting us. Thank you for being our Strong Tower – Amen.
